Original Oil Painting is 24″x30″
Did you ever wonder why the Smokies in the Blue Ridge mountains are blue? It’s the Oak tree. It produces a hydrocarbon called an isoprene to protect itself from the sun and heat. The molecule which is moist absorbs the blue and produces the blue haze which we know as the Blue Ridge Mountains. As the Oak tree which produces more isoprene than other trees and is taken over by invading species, our mountains will loose it’s blue.
