Pets. Portraits of your pet or animals need size and composition determined. If you want just a head study, then you can go as small as 11×14. However, 16×12 is still the smallest size I recommended. You might also want to tell a story with your best buddy. For example, a friend of mine, chose to have her horse, Danny, in a field in front of the barn he lives in. The smallest size I recommend for a painting with a story is 20×16.

People. Human Portraits need size and composition determined. If you want just a head study, then you can go as small as 12×16. You might also want more than one person in the painting. The smallest size I recommend for more than one like that is 16×20.

Homes. Depending on the composition, and the amount of architectural detail, the size can be determined. If you want the detail to show up accurately, 16×20 is the smallest size I recommend. However, if the details are not as important to you, a smaller size can be painted. If there is more to the story than just the house, ie., gardens, etc. then 20×24 is the smallest size I would recommend. Depending on the amount of architectural detail and the completeness and accuracy of the photo references supplied, the amount of deviations from those references, cost will range between $3.00/square inch to $3.50/square inch.
